Panel: ElectroAcoustic Music in Thailand

16:30-17:30 18 April @ Bangkok Kunsthalle

Inviting multiple generations of composers from Thailand, alongside the co-director of the Birmingham Electroacoustic Sound Theatre (BEAST), this all-star gathering forms a panel discussion on electroacoustic music and sound art in Thailand, reflecting on its evolution over the years and its future direction.

Lecture: Sound on Sound on Sound – A lecture in action

13:00-14:15 19 April @ Bangkok Kunsthalle

A verbal/nonverbal conversation between three generations of Thai electroacoustic composers and sound artists, discussing their approaches to sound-making through the use of their personal modular synthesizers.

The highly customizable nature of the modular synthesizer allows for a deeply personal approach to system creation. Each composer has tailored their setup to reflect their own workflow, creative needs, and sonic exploration. The modularity of the system supports individuality in a way that pre-built instruments cannot, giving each artist the freedom to experiment, reconfigure, and adapt as their artistic vision evolves.

In this lecture, you will hear how the three different synthesizer formats, BugBrand, Serge, and Eurorack, have found their place in the workflows of Jiradej Setabundhu, Thanapat Ogaslert, and Sippapas Thienwiwat. Each format offers unique possibilities for sound design, and each artist brings their personal touch to the possibilities their systems offer
