“Klangjournal (คลัง/เจอร์นัล): a recollection of sonic encounters in Berlin” is a lecture-performance of Sippapas Thienwiwat’s work with multichannel audiovisual livecoding influenced by his time in Berlin, presented by the Thai ElectroAcoustic Music Society (TEAMS) in collaboration with the Goethe Institut Thailand.
During November 11-17, 2025, Thai composer and sound artist Sippapas Thienwiwat received a partial grant to travel to Berlin, Germany to give a presentation of his research paper and audiovisual multichannel liveset of the same name, “Spatialized Algorithms”, at the Most Wanted: Music 2025 Hybrid Music Lab, set at the Berlin Kulturbrauerei. Aside from his academic duties, he used this time to explore Berlin’s music scene, from the techno sound of legendary clubs like Berghain and Tresor to the various styles of music at the AI music symposium at Radialsystem. This talk focuses on experiences in Berlin, how it connects to his research, and how it helped influence his practice in dance-oriented electronic music. Presented in a lecture-performance format, the talk concludes with a performance of an untitled audiovisual performance work-in-progress presented in quadraphonic audio format. This talk is presented by the Thai ElectroAcoustic Music Society (TEAMS) in collaboration with the Goethe Institut Thailand.

dadadadadatadada is my first attempt at developing a quadraphonic liveset, with reinforced distant pairs helping with spatial imaging and accentuating certain passages.

Spatialized Algorithms is my first major attempt at defining a framework for developing multichannel audiovisual livecoding performances based on fixed-format speaker systems (in this case, the quadraphonic system set up at SODA Club at Berliner Kulturbrauerei). Accompanying paper to follow soon.

SKYKYS is a digital art project of Thai composer and scholar Sippapas Thienwiwat, whose work in the audio-sometimes-visual medium is presented in livecoding and live electronics performance. His sonic practice borrows from electroacoustic music and dance music, extended by bare-bones signal visualization techniques. Past performance highlights as SKYKYS include the BEAST system in the Elgar Concert Hall at the University of Birmingham, SODA Club at the Berlin Kulturbrauerei, Current Plans Hong Kong, EmSphere, One Bangkok, Bangkok Kunsthalle, and Synap[home/lab]. As a member of the Bangkok-based Cornea Cochlear Club, Sippapas has been using SKYKYS’s works as a reference point for his personal research in multichannel audiovisual livecoding.
Sippapas Thienwiwat (b. 2006) is a Bangkok-based composer, digital artist, scholar, and curator. His music and sound arts challenge the notion of post-acousmaticism by adopting technology as raw compositional material. His works have been presented in the USA, England, Ireland, Germany, Brazil, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand. Recent collaborations include BEAST, CEMI, EMuSE, OSSIA New Music, Sonic Officer, and TACET(i) Ensemble. He is the President of the Thai ElectroAcoustic Music Society (TEAMS), currently under the tutelage of Thanapat Ogaslert, Jiradej Setabundhu, Scott Wilson, and Matthias Jung.
